The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

Design Contest WIN 4000 POINTS, 20$ AND MORE!I've wanted to hold a design contest for a long time now, and finally I've gathered enough points to do it :D

What I'm looking for:
Everything! Wolves, foxes, fennec foxes, ferrets, servals, bobcats, tigers, other big cats, small cats, deers, dragons, gryphons, dogs, birds, hybrids, original species.. bring it!
I'm leaving the details to your imagination, but here are some things I really like:
-White base color with black and red markings<33 (mostly on canines)
-Cute and fluffy things! No need to go all big eyes and oversized heads, but animals with fur. Creepy and slimy things just aren't my thing.. Still don't be afraid to make something dark/evil
-Anything tribal
-Native american stuff
-Feathers!
-Tawny, golden, brown, white, red, blue, cyan, gray, black (well, not all combined)
-I like more natural base colors, but with smaller markings in unnatural colors like blue or red
-Long tails, big/long
Callibrate your Wacom tutorialHad you  finally  made  the transition from intuos 3 to intuos 4?, or Are you rich to change into an intuos 5? Had you made the transition from a first generation cintiq  to the new ones?. More levels of pressure will mean  more quality to the paintings, am i right?. 
Did you thought that by default the pen will it be like using butter on bread?, you try it for the first time and you love all of it, you said i have sooooooo much control on my strokes im having a blast. Then only  to realize you only have total control of the brush but when you are moving it really slow?. But when you do quick strokes the pressure drops a lot of paint making you redraw tons of stuff?
Did you ever thought that painter its hard to handle with new tablet? Too much pressure? If it has more pressure why i cant control more easier the beggining of the stroke which is more crucial?.

Premium membership, features and general update

Hi friends!

First of all....thanks to [link] for the premium membership. His gift came as a total surprise for me and it really made my day. Thanks!

Secondly I would like to share a few gems with you guys. You probably already know these deviants but just in case you missed them check out the list below:

Pathgalen  [link] : This guy is fierce when it comes to wood. He makes some of the meanest spoons I have ever seen. A true craftsman with an obvious love for his preferred material.

Jarkko1  [link] : I'm sure you already know this guy. If you don't go watch and fav everything at his gallery at once. This is a smith of the old school that uses the material in many ways as it was used a thousand years ago.

Weavedmagic   [link] : Weaved magic truly knows how to make magic. Not only is she a master tablet weaver, she is also very knowledgeable about iron age in general.

Darksuntattoo   [link] : A true craftsman with a deepened knowledge about iron age finds. It's just beautiful.

Erzebeth-rouge  [link] : Now this girl has not got nearly enough attention here at DevArt. Her preferred crafts seems to be tablet weaving an embroidery, she has mastered both to a level that that few ever reaches.


You might have noticed that I haven't posted any new pictures for a while. This is partly because of the winter and partly because I got a new job. Also I have been entertaining the idea of being unfaithful to my beloved viking age and try something else on the side. There is yet another part of history that i really love. Who knows, maybe I will be opening a new account by the end of summer. If I do it will cover an historical age and culture very far from viking age. I'll let you know if it becomes real enough =)
