These are my shoes. They are based on finds from york. Similar finds have been excavated at the norse trading post at Aldegigjuborg (modern Staraja Ladoga).

They are getting quite ruffed up so I will be making a new pair soon.

I'm very glad you liked the shoes =)

I'm sad to say that I do not sell anything connected to my viking interest.

thanks; i appreciate it! I plan too once I finish some other crafting projects; how much did the leather cost you? and what kinda needles/sewing machine did you use to make them or recommend?

Leather cost...hm...don't remember. I always buy lots of leather at the same time and to very differebt prices. I do not know what kind of prices you have in the states but my guess is that you probably would pay 7 USD/square foot for some vegetably tanned leather. Never use a machin for viking reenacment shoes, the result will not be satisfactory.

You will need at a minimum two blunted Leather Needles. You will have to swe with both needles at the same time piercing the stichhole from both sides. For thread use a waxed double or tripple twisted linen thread.

Google around a bit and you will find what your looking for.

Good luck!

I love these. Is there any kind of tutorial or similar materials on the net to make these?

I've been looking for this kind of footwear for a long time for LARP.

Hi. These shoes are not made from a pattern. I made them from pictures of archeological finds and from experience with other types of shoes. I do, however, have a few links to reasonably good sites with patterns and instructions. I also made another pair of shoes. You can see them here: [link]

Also, the book "Stepping through time" by Olaf Goubitz is an exellent reading.

Hope this is of any help

Some of the links don't work for some reason but thanks anyway, I found what I was looking for. The patterns are rather simple so I think I'll start working on them soon. Practice makes perfect I guess. :D

Thank you for taking your time to reply :D
