Hantverksabstinensen

Would not want to meet any of you in a dark alley.

It's good you had a good time. (Also, love how you all posed.)

The outfits are fabulous, so detailed :wow: All of your work is very inspirational to me :)

And i was just wondering if you could help me out :D I am a writer (though i dont upload much on DA... :D) and have been writing a LOT about vikings lately :) And i cant seem to find it anywhere but... why exactly do you wear those cute little leather shoes, and then baggy pants. But bind whatever-that-is :XD: (can you tell me what that is too?) around your lower leg? Is there a specific reason? Or is it just comfort..? Would be most appreciative if you could tell me :) Thank you

These leather shoes are not historical (i sometimes use them in summer). The baggy pants are made from linen. They are commonly depicted on gotlandic picture stones and figure in some arabic texts concerning viking clothing. The are usually made from several meters of fabric (this pair has 9,5 meters of fabric).

I'm not sure about your last question. My lowerlegs and ankles have leg wrappings wrapped around them. The leg wrappings are made from wool and are fastende with a small bronze hook (barely visible in this pic: [link]) . The wrapping serves as comfort and as substitute for thicker pants.

If you want to know some of the basics concerning viking clothing have a look at this page: [link]

Hope this was to any help =)

Oh thankyou for answering in such detail

And, sorry to ask more questions, but is the bronze hook historical?

Very helpful to me :)

Thank you again

Yes, generaly all my stuff are historical and based from actuel finds or picture and text sources. At the moment I have no detailed picture of the hook in my gallery. You can see one of my hooks (not attached to the leg wrapping) here right below the penadat: [link]

Ask away, I don't mind =)

Strangely enough they are very practical. I have nine meters of fabric in the pants =)

Yes it is. I've bought 14 meters of fabric for my new pants. My only fear is that they will be a little to heavy =)

The clothes and the poses are wonderful, the guys are like in a wacky viking world of their own. I've seen a few of this sort of pictures and I gave this one a fave because I can see a lot of clothing detail in the shot, plus it might be a good reference for drawing characters in a group, maybe, later.

I'm not wild about this as a photograph, with the light in the top corner and the colours are a bit too mute overall. I know good lighting is such a bother even outdoors in these longitudes ... :)

Thanx =) Detail in clothing is what viking reenactment is all about.

Yes, I once dabbled in re-enactment myself long ago, but that's not my thing. There's a lot about it that I like, all the folklore and crafts overall. Fabulous stuff!

We already have a band named "vikingarna" (Vikings) in Sweden. It's cheeziest band ever. It's very popular in the swedish countryside.
