If it isnt too much to ask... Can you go into detail on this one? Can you explain to me all the materials used, the names of some aspects of the garments (the correct... terminology? for the dress style etc.)
And i am curious. I see that little strapless outer dress all over female ciking outfits. Is that necklace what is keeping it up? Or is it actually sewn on/part of the dress?
sory for all the questions. but i am a writer who does not want to be inaccurate. as much knowledge of the Northmens way of life as i can cram in this head of mine
This is a woolen dress suspended by tablet-wowen shoulder straps fastened by Gotlandic brooches. This kind of suspended dress is sometimes called a hangerock or an apron-skirt. The dress is not strapless it hangs in the tablet wowen straps on her shoulders. The necklace hangs on the brooches wich fastens the straps. The green dress is also made from wool. Her under garnment (the white dress) is made from linen.
