This is Hervors latest costume. It is designed to work in autumn and spring weather. Two days prior to a spring viking gathering I realized that we didn't have any warm clothes for Hervor, so I started to panic sew. The costume is made by me. My wife made the bag, hat, and shoes.

Below are info about the dress. Unless you are a viking fanatic skip this =)

She is wearing a linen underdress (not visible here) based on finds from Birka. The woolen tunic dress is based on the finnish find in the female grave 56 at Luistiari in Eura. The woolen dog tooth pattern hanging dress is based on a find from the harbour at Haithabu (Hedeby). The Eura tunic dress is decorated with linen tablet braids. Her tablet braided belt is made from wool. Hanging from the belt is a simple wooden spoon and a tarsoly style bag based on finds from Lund in Sweden. She is also wearing a woolen naalbinding hat. The shoes are based on a find from Jorvik (York). The tortoise brooch is based on a find from 11th centurey finnish grave. The beads on the necklace are all made from finds. The stick is local.

If you want a grown up costume, just scale up all the clothes.

We got a DD.......I am shocked!

Thanks to all that commented here and who finds an interest in what we do. This is truly a family project with me making the costume, my wife taking the shot and Hervor being the model.

I love this picture on so many levels, not the least of which is that you named your daughter from a Valkyrie and that she plays with sticks, which you say you will replace with a real sword. Well done!
The attention to detail in the kit, and the way you captured it in the photo is superb. Again, well done. I only wish I could make it over there to participate.

Cheers!
