Description
This is another pic of my new take on an Anglo saxon seax sheath. I had to make a new instead of the old leather sheath that I had grown to hate immensely.
If truth be told a historically correct anglo saxon sheath would probably have a wooden core covered in calf skin, but I wanted to try on wood carving so what the fuck...
The sheath is made from elm (I think) and the fittings are handmade from brass. For this sheath I used a simple woodcarving knife and lots of grinding paper.
The sheath is oiled in lineseed oil and tar and then seal with a beeswax turpentine mix.
The seax (which is huge)) is made by Paul Binns.
